Weather University: October weather and wildfire safety tips
RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) -- StormTracker8 Meteorologist Jacqueline Waters was in the WRIC NOW livestreaming studio Monday to talk about October weather and to give some wildfire safety tips. While Waters started the stream by giving a quick tropics update, her main focus was what people can expect to see in terms of weather throughout the rest of October. "We should usually get about three to three and a half inches of rain -- October is typically dry in Central Virginia, but we've been very dry," Waters said. "If you have been thinking that October has been warm, you aren't wrong." As we move into the drier months, there becomes a greater risk for wildfires. Waters offered viewers some tips to stay safe, such as: Never leave campfires unattended Adhere to burn bans and warnings Properly discard extinguished cigarettes To learn more about how cool weather affects fall foliage, check out last week's episode of Weather University.
