2 dead after Chesterfield house fire on New Year’s Eve

CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) — Two people are dead after a fatal house fire in Chesterfield County on New Year's Eve.
At around 11:51 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 31, crews with Chesterfield Fire and EMS responded to Featherstone Court off Huguenot Road for a report of a house fire.
Upon arrival, crews found heavy fire coming from the home and called for additional units.
Firefighters rescued two adults from the house, according to Chesterfield officials. They were transported to area hospitals, where they later died due to their injuries.
Their identities are pending notification of next of kin. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
