2 Richmond restaurants make Southern Living’s best restaurants in the south list
RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) -- Two Richmond restaurants have made the "20 Best New Restaurants In The South" list, according to Southern Living.
Beaucoup in the city's Fan District, which opened back in 2024, has embraced the seasonal house cocktails and a curated menu.
The magazine said that the Fresh-inspired restaurant's team has "a clear preference for Virginia seafood and the oyster chalkboard" in nearby popular locations like Cape Charles, Virginia Beach, and Hungar’s Creek.
Additionally, Beaucoup's "Happy Hour And a Half” allows customers to slurp local lelicacies like oysters just $1 a piece.
French cuisine is not the only staple here in Richmond, as Cochiloco gives a taste of Mexico to the Commonwealth.
The restaurant, located in Richmond's Scott’s Addition neighborhood, was opened by Paulo and Nelson Benavides, veterans of the city's restaurant scene.
According to Southern Living, the Guadalajara streets inspired the metalwork and title inside of the restaurant, which offers gua frescas, horchata and creative batched cocktails made with ingredients like prickly pear juice, guava nectar or hibiscus.
The article praised the guacamole-and-pico topped cali fries and quesabirria tacos made with beef shortribs and homemade mole.
