34-year-old man charged after vehicle pursuit in three localities
FLUVANNA COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- A 34-year-old man has been charged with multiple crimes after he hit a deputy patrol car during a vehicle pursuit from Fluvanna County to Charlottesville.
At 6:25 p.m. on Wednesday, May 28, the Fluvanna County Sheriff's Office tried to arrest 34-year-old Cedric Flood of Palmyra, who was driving a 2024 Honda.
As the deputy tried to catch up to Flood, the sheriff’s office said that he "attempted an evasive maneuver" and drove away. In the pursuit, the vehicle then hit the deputy's patrol car.
Deputies said there were no reported injuries as a result of the crash.
According to the sheriff's office, the pursuit extended through Fluvanna County and into Albemarle County and Charlottesville.
In the pursuit, the Fluvanna County Sheriff's Office was assisted by the Virginia State Police, the Albemarle County Police Department and the Charlottesville Police Department. Flood was taken into custody without further incident.
He is facing the following charges, according to the sheriff’s office:
- Eight counts of probation violations
- Brandishing
- Grand larceny
- Felony eluding
- Property damage
- Reckless driving
- Possession of a controlled substance
Flood has been held at Central Virginia Regional Jail without bond.
