Chesterfield County Fire & EMS go door to door to install smoke detectors
CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- Yesterday Chesterfield County Fire and EMS went door to door in one neighborhood to check residents smoke detectors and in some cases install one.
According to a Facebook post from Chesterfield Fire and EMS, your risk of dying in a house fire decreases by 60% if you have a working smoke detector in your home.

That's why on Saturday, May 17, A-shift firefighters from truck 205 and engine 220 used part of their Saturday to go door-to-door in one residential neighborhood near station 20 to make sure smoke detectors were in operating conditions.

However they didn't just check the smoke detectors--they tested them, changed batteries and if a home did not have one they installed one.
