Chesterfield County to host Memorial Day ceremony
CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- Chesterfield County and the Chesterfield Historical Society of Virginia are hosting the annual Memorial Day Ceremony honoring fallen soldiers.
The Memorial Day Ceremony will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, May 26, at the County Fairgrounds' Vietnam Veterans Memorial Building Exhibition Hall, which is located at 10300 Courthouse Road.
According to the county, this year's theme is "Chesterfield County Remembers Our Fallen Heroes." The ceremony will also focus on the 50th anniversary of the Vietnam War and honoring fallen soldiers from the county who died during the battles.
Guest speakers include retired Marine Lt. Col. Curt Powell, recipient of the 2024 Veteran of the Year Award for Virginia’s 4th Congressional District. The ceremony will conclude with attendees taking part in the nation's Moment of Remembrance.
