Elegba Folklore Society to host 2025 Capital City Kwanzaa Festival

RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) -- The Capital City Kwanzaa Festival will return to Richmond on Saturday, featuring performances, a candle lighting ceremony and more.

Kwanzaa is a week-long celebration that honors African heritage culture observed from Dec. 26 through Jan. 1.

Hosted by the Elegba Folklore Society, the 2025 Capital City Kwanzaa Festival will be held from 1 to 7 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 27, at the Greater Richmond Convention Center, Exhibit Hall B at 5th and Marshall St.

Attendees can enjoy performances by African dancers and drummers, musicians, a market, candle lighting ceremony, and more.

Advanced general admission tickets are $7 and tickets at the door are $9, according to organizers.

Advanced tickets for students between ages 12 and 18, and seniors ages 65 and older are $6, or $8 at the door.

Groups of 10 or more can grab their tickets in advance for $5, according to organizers.

Children under 12 can enter for free.
