Henrico Police to host rabies vaccination clinic in February

HENRICO COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- The Henrico County Police Division will host a rabies vaccination clinic in February. On Saturday, Feb. 22 from 9 a.m. to noon, pet owners can get their dogs and cats vaccinated for rabies at the Henrico County Western Government Complex, located at 1301 E. Parham Road. According to the county, it is Virginia law for dogs and cats four months and older to be vaccinated for rabies. The county said that pets from all surrounding localities are welcome -- you do not need to be a Henrico resident. Cats are required to be in a carrier. Pet owners will need to register and pay at the cashier's office inside of the Administration Building before seeing a veterinarian on the first floor near the parking deck. The vaccines are $20 each and must be paid for with cash. A rabies tag and certificate of inoculation will be included. In addition, Henrico dog licenses will be available for $10. The licenses will be valid for the life of the pet as long as the owner lives in Henrico County and their rabies vaccines are kept current. Officers will be available to provide information on license and vaccination requirements. For more information, visit the Animal Protection Unit's website or call 804-727-8801.
