Limited permits for Fan Restricted Parking District now available for purchase
RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) -- New resident parking decals for the Fan Restricted Parking District are now on sale.
The 2025–26 Fan Restricted Parking Decals are now available for purchase at a cost of $25, but quantities are limited. According to the City of Richmond, qualifying residents can renew their Fan parking permits by mail or in person before the current permits expire on June 30.
Residents are required to display Fan parking permits on their cars to park for longer than one hour between 7 a.m. to 9 p.m., Monday through Thursday, and between 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Friday. On West Avenue, parts of Boyd Street and Birch Street, and the 1600 and 1800 blocks of West Grace Street, the one-hour parking regulation applies between 7 a.m. to midnight, Monday through Sunday.
A resident -- defined as either the residing owner of record or a renter of property within the Restricted Parking District -- must complete and receive approval for a City of Richmond Residential Parking Permit Application before a decal can be issued.
To allow the Department of Public Works to verify residency, applicants must provide the following documentation along with a valid photo ID:
- Property owners are required to provide a copy of their real estate bill or other information that can verify property ownership.
- Renters are required to provide a written property lease in the Fan Parking District and have approval from the property owner on the application.
This includes the property’s owner or renter and any immediate household members who live with them at the address and are licensed drivers, whose legal domicile is within the parking district.
Annual Visitor Passes are available for $35 each at a limit of two per home or building address. The visitor passes must be purchased in the same transaction as the Fan permit and are restricted to residential homeowners.
Property owners and renters must comply with the residency and motor vehicle requirements of the Virginia Department of Motor Vehicles.
