Missing gangway to dock at Robious Landing Park in Chesterfield found
CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- The gangway to the dock at Robious Landing Park in Chesterfield County has been found after it went missing Thursday morning due to high river levels sweeping it away.
According to Chesterfield County Parks and Recreation, the gangway to the dock at Robious Landing Park was removed by crane earlier during the week of Monday, May 12, in anticipation of the James River cresting above flood levels due to heavy rainfall.
However, officials said the river crested above expected levels and swept the gangway off the bank and downriver at around 7 a.m. on Thursday, May 15.
"County teams are actively working to locate the structure, but it has not yet been found," Chesterfield County Parks and Recreation said in a Facebook post. "It will likely take time for the water level to subside and reveal where it ends up. We are actively looking for the gangway and will have it removed from wherever it lands."

Officials said the upstream gangway was destroyed by flooding and had floated away, damaging the downstream gangway earlier this spring.
Replacement and repair were due around May 22, but will now likely be late summer before the dock can be restored, according to Chesterfield County Parks and Recreation.
At around 4:40 p.m., Chesterfield County Parks and Recreation said the gangway had been found and is "being secured until it can be safely removed."
"Thanks to the community for the alerts to its location," Chesterfield County Parks and Recreation said.
