New Kent authorities rescue stranded boaters from wrecked boat
NEW KENT COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- New Kent County first responders rescued stranded boaters after they crashed on Chickahominy Lake on Monday.
At about 7 p.m. on Monday, May 19, the New Kent Emergency Communications Center got a call from a neighboring locality about a possible boat accident near Ed Allen's Boat Launch.
Units with both the county's Sheriff's Office and Fire-Rescue responded with three boats.
According to the sheriff's office, they were able to get in contact with those on the wrecked boat via phone and the victims helped first responders find them.

The victims were rescued soon after, with no injuries reported.
The New Kent County Sheriff's Office, New Kent Fire-Rescue and the Virginia Conservation Police took this opportunity to jointly ask Virginians to use caution when on the water.

"While boating in our community is a fun and deep tradition, situations like this could easily turn tragic," authorities said.
