Now-former Chesterfield police officer accused of having illegal drugs mailed to home
CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- A now-former Chesterfield County police officer is accused of having illegal drugs mailed to his home.
Last week, the Chesterfield County Police Department received a tip that 40-year-old Lewis Hagen, one of its police officers, may be having illegal drugs mailed to his home.
An investigation was launched into the accusations by the Drug Enforcement Administration's (DEA) Richmond District Office High-Intensity Drug Trafficking Area (HIDTA) Task Force.
The morning of Friday, May 16, officers with the DEA HIDTA Task Force executed a search warrant on Hagen's home in the 2300 block of Elkview Drive.
As a result of that search and the evidence found by officers, Hagen was arrested. As of the time of reporting, he has been charged with possession with intent to distribute an imitation substance and conspiracy.

The department said that Hagen was placed on administrative leave without pay following this news. Upon receiving notification of this, he resigned without notice, which was accepted and is effective immediately.
“I am extremely disappointed to share this news with our community,” said Chesterfield Police Chief Frank Carpenter in a statement. “This officer’s alleged actions are unacceptable and [they] do not reflect the values we have sworn to uphold in our oath of office. At the same time, we are proud of every employee involved in this investigative process and we remain committed to openly addressing breaches of the public trust and holding ourselves accountable.”
