Rabies clinic for pets coming to Henrico next week

HENRICO COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) — Pet owners in the area can soon head to Henrico County for a rabies vaccination clinic for their four-legged friends.

The Henrico County Police Division announced on Friday that it will hold a clinic for dogs and cats next week at the Henrico County Eastern Government Complex, 3820 Nine Mile Road.

Pet owners can attend the clinic between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. on Saturday, March 14. They must register and pay at the cashier's office before seeing a vet in the adjacent parking lot.

Each vaccine costs $20 and must be paid in cash. A rabies tag and a certificate of inoculation are included with the vaccine cost.

Pets from all localities are welcome at the Henrico clinic. Cats must be in carriers to attend the clinic.

Pet owners can also purchase Henrico dog licenses for $10 at the clinic. Licenses are valid for the life of the animal while its owner resides in Henrico and its rabies vaccines are up to date. Officers will be available to discuss license and vaccination requirements, per a release.

The event is one of two annual rabies clinics held by the Animal Protection Unit. The next clinic is scheduled for Oct. 17 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Western Henrico Government Center.
