Richmond radio host to join race for lieutenant governor

RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) -- An award-winning Richmond radio host wants to be Virginia's next lieutenant governor -- a bid that, if he won, would make him the first openly gay state official in Virginia's history. In a Monday, Jan. 27 press release, News Radio WRVA morning host John Reid announced that he will be leaving the radio business to campaign for lieutenant governor under the Republican party. "I have spent my entire life and career -- in public and behind the scenes -- serving and advancing conservative values," Reid said in the release. As lieutenant governor, Reid said he will "back our law enforcement officers, stand up for parental rights and bring business and jobs to our Commonwealth by cutting red tape regulations and lowering taxes."
