Richmond Spiders’ men’s lacrosse team cinches first-ever NCAA Tournament win

RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) -- The University of Richmond's (UR) men's lacrosse team celebrated its first-ever NCAA Tournament victory on Saturday.

On Saturday, May 10, the Spiders faced off against eighth-seeded North Carolina in an NCAA tournament game and won 13-10.

While this is not the first NCAA tournament that UR's men's lacrosse team has participated in, this game marks the first NCAA tournament win it has ever seen.

"History was made," UR Athletics said in a press release. "Richmond's legacy, already solidified with their achievements, now includes this monumental victory."

Those achievements include their six trips to the NCAA tournament, as well as ten winning seasons. The team also came into Saturday's game as one of only two NCAA Tournament-attending squads that boast a top-10 offense and defense, according to UR Athletics.

The Spiders will next take on first-seeded Cornell and UAlbany in Hempstead, New York on Saturday, May 17.
