Road closures, ‘no parking’ zones announced for Lobby Day 2026
RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — Several street closures and no-parking zones will be in effect near Richmond's Capitol Square on Monday.
The Division of Capitol Police announced that it will be closing some streets and enforcing no-parking restrictions on Monday, Jan. 19, for this year's annual Lobby Day at the Virginia General Assembly.
The closures and "no parking" zones will be in place between 8 a.m. and 6 p.m.

Roads that will be closed and won't allow parking are:
- North 9th Street between Main and Broad streets
- East Franklin Street between 8th and 9th streets
- East Grace Street between 8th and 9th streets
Per the release, large crowds and multiple demonstrations are expected throughout the day in the area. Police said community members should anticipate heavy pedestrian activity, noise and intermittent delays.
State facilities in the Capitol Square area will remain open.
