State police identify two victims in deadly crash on I-64 in New Kent

NEW KENT, Va. (WRIC) -- Virginia State Police have identified the two victims of the deadly single-vehicle crash on Interstate 64 in New Kent. At approximately 11:27 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 8, state police responded to a single-vehicle crash on Westbound I-64 at the 206-mile marker in New Kent County. The crash resulted in two deaths. 36-year-old Eric Latrell Upshaw, of Walkerton, was driving a 2003 Kenworth T800 when one of the tires blew -- causing the truck to run off the side of the road and hit a tree. According to state police, the truck then caught on fire. Upshaw and the passenger in his car, 40-year-old Randall Benton Cooper of Glen Allen, died from injuries due to the crash.
