StormTracker8: Snow looking likely for Friday & Sunday

RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) – Clouds will slowly clear across central Virginia tonight and our overnight lows will be near 32.

Mostly sunny to sunny skies will be with us for Thursday but it will be chilly with highs in the lower 40s.

An Alberta Clipper system, which is a fast-moving weather system with limited moisture, will approach the region during Friday. This will bring us the risk of some light snow or snow showers in the morning and that could last throughout the day. Right now, most of Central Virginia will pick up about a dusting to 1", but there will be some areas to the north and west of Metro Richmond that could receive 1" to 2".

Saturday will be partly sunny and remain chilly with highs in the lower 40s.

Our next weather system will approach us for Sunday, and this will bring us another round of light snow that could develop in the morning and last into the early afternoon. Right now, it is tough to tell exactly how much we could be looking at, but this does look like a very light or weak storm, similar to what we have coming this Friday. We will keep watching the development of this system for you. Our high temperatures will top out in the middle 30s.

Behind that system it will turn downright cold for Sunday night and early Monday morning as we drop back into the middle to upper teens under clear skies.

Monday will be a very chilly day with highs in the lower 30s under sunny skies.

Looking ahead to Tuesday and Wednesday we will see sunny to partly sunny skies with highs in the lower 40s on Tuesday and upper 40s by Wednesday.
