Texas Inn in Richmond offers National Pi Day deal to benefit Richmond Public Schools

RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) -- Friday, March 14, is National Pi Day and 8News spoke with the owner of Texas Inn to learn more about their pie deal that will benefit Richmond Public Schools.

Texas Inn owner Dave Saunders spoke with 8News Anchors Autumn Childress and Delaney Hall about a special deal the restaurant will offer in celebration of National Pi Day on Friday, March 14.

According to Saunders, all four Texas Inn locations in Virginia will sell their pie slices for $3.14 on Friday with the proceeds going towards local education foundations.

"Here in Richmond, we're supporting Richmond Public Schools' education foundation," Saunders said. "So, 100% of the proceeds, all day long, all the way up until 2 a.m. [Saturday] morning."

Saunders showcased several slices of Texas Inn's pies in the studio, which included a coconut meringue, classic southern pecan pie and apple pie.

Texas Inn also offers a sweet potato pie that the restaurant will deep fry when guests order the "Sam's pie," which Saunders said is a secret menu item.

Richmond's Texas Inn restaurant is located at 2901 Park Avenue.
