Four arrested in connection to $40,000 four-wheeler theft in Mecklenburg

MECKLENBURG COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- Four people have been arrested in connection to multiple four-wheeler thefts in Mecklenburg County, with authorities recovering stolen vehicles that cost about $40,000.

Two adults and two juveniles were reportedly arrested and will face charges after the Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation Division investigated multiple four-wheeler larcenies reported throughout the county.

According to deputies, both adults -- identified as 22-year-old Arkel Bell, of Chase City, and 20-year-old Daniel Scott Alexander, of Boydton -- were charged with grand larceny as a result of the investigation.

Two juveniles have also been identified as suspects and will be facing charges, officials said.

The sheriff's office had been investigating multiple incidents between July 23 and July 26 regarding property either stolen or purposefully damaged in Mecklenburg, according to authorities.

Seven stolen four-wheelers were recovered, which were estimated to be worth about $40,000.

The sheriff's office said investigators are still working to locate six dirt bikes and three racing-style four-wheelers.
