The 2025 dates for the Pocahontas Reframed Film Festival have been announced

RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) --The ninth annual Pocahontas Reframed Film Festival has announced its 2025 dates and headlining films for this year.

The festival will take place from Nov. 20 through Nov. 23, at the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts (VMFA) and the Virginia Museum of History and Culture.

The Pocahontas Reframed Film Festival seeks to highlight feature films, documentaries, shorts, music videos, animation and public service announcements by and about Native Americans, First Nation People of Canada and other filmmakers from beyond the Southern Border.

The festival also aims at raising awareness about Native American language, culture and societies through films that are shared through the Native American perspective.

The Native American led festival will host the Virginia premiere of "Midnight in the Orange Grove" a coming of age drama that has also been selected for the 2025 Cannes World Film Festival and Sweden International Film Festival.

The festival will also present the North American premiere of "Ireland and the Native Americans" which discusses how Irish people were both friends and foes, who having lost their own land, settled in the land of Native Americans and much more.

Early bird weekend passes for the festival will go on sale for $25 starting June 1 through Aug. 21, and beginning Sept. 1 prices will increase to $30. VIP passed will be available after Sept. 1.

According to a press release, the Pocahontas Reframed Film Festival honors the contributions of Native Americans and reinvigorates conversations about telling stories of indigenous life. Within the past eight years the festival has shown over 190 films and hosted over 70 producers, directors, writers and actors
