Three Lakes Nature Center in Henrico to reopen late summer
HENRICO COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- Renovations for the Three Lakes Nature Center in Henrico County are underway, with plans to reopen late summer.
The upgrades will include an outdoor classroom, new playground equipment and new wildlife exhibits.
Henrico held a ground-breaking ceremony in January to kick off the first major improvements to Three Lakes Park & Nature Center since the 1990s, according to the county.
In a May 16 social post, Jim Weinpress, manager of zoology with Henrico County Recreation & Parks, shared a statement about the construction process:
"We have a lot of reptiles, amphibians and invertebrates that call the Nature Center home still. So, while it has been a transition, we are so excited to welcome the community back in here." Jim Weinpress
The county initially posted about the renovations in December 2024 in a social post. At the time, construction was set to begin in February 2025.
The park is located at 400 Sausiluta Drive in the county. For more information about the park, visit Henrico County’s website.
