Two 18-year-olds identified as victims of late-November crash in Prince George County
PRINCE GEORGE COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- Two 18-year-olds have identified by police as the victims of a crash involving a disabled tractor-trailer on Interstate 295 in Prince George County that occurred in late November.
According to Virginia State Police, the crash occurred at 6:22 a.m. on Nov. 25 on I-295 South, just north of the Oaklawn Boulevard exit in Prince George County.
A tractor-trailer had become disabled and was parked on the right emergency shoulder, police said.
A 2014 Toyota Camry, driven by 18-year-old Cristofer Luna Cortes, of the Sandston area of Henrico County, was heading south while speeding, police said, when it ran off the right side of the roadway and hit the back of the tractor-trailer.
Both the driver and his passenger, Jeimey Alexa Gonzalez-Moralez, 18, died at the scene.
Officials said speed is being considered a contributing factor in the crash.
The driver of the tractor-trailer was not cited.
Police continue to investigate.
