Two families without homes after fire damages Henrico apartment

HENRICO COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- Two families are without homes after a fire severely damaged an apartment in Henrico County on Friday morning.

Just before 8:13 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 27, Henrico County Fire personnel responded to a reported multi-story structure fire in the 2200 block of Park Lane.

When units arrived, they found an active single apartment fire, and the fire was suppressed by the responding units as well as the automatic sprinkler system, according to a spokesperson with the Henrico County Fire Department.

Officials said there was significant water damage to the apartment and damage to the apartment directly below.

Henrico County Fire Marshal‘s Office is on the scene and has begun an investigation into the cause of fire.

"Managers with the apartment complex have stated they have enough vacant apartments to rehouse anyone displaced," a spokesperson said.
