VIDEO: Old Georgia-Pacific plant in Emporia engulfed in flames

EMPORIA, Va. (WRIC) -- The closed Georgia-Pacific plywood plant in Emporia is engulfed in flames Thursday night.

The evening of Thursday, Jan. 15, a massive fire broke out at the shuttered Georgia-Pacific plywood plant at 654 Davis St. in the city of Emporia.

Details on the incident are limited at this time, but the Greensville Volunteer Fire Department told 8News sister station 10 On Your Side that, as of 8:12 p.m., the entire plant was engulfed. Several fire departments are at the scene, battling the blaze.

Drone video of the scene shows just how large the fire is and how much damage it has done to the plant. It also shows the multiple brush fires that have cropped up near the plant, along U.S. Highway 58.
