15-year-old girl fighting for life after shooting in Richmond

RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) -- A 15-year-old girl is fighting for her life after she was shot in Richmond on Wednesday.

At about 5:17 p.m. on Wednesday, April 9, officers with the Richmond Police Department were called to the 1600 block of Lone Street for report of a person shot.

When they arrived, officers found a 15-year-old girl on the ground with a gunshot wound.

She was taken to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries. 8News asked police for an update on her condition as of Thursday, April 10. Police said an update was not available.

No further details, such as the circumstances of the shooting or any suspect information, is available as of the time of reporting.

This is one of several juveniles who have been shot in Richmond since April 1. The other victims included a 2-year-old boy, a 15-year-old boy and 15-year-old Dora Hill, who sadly died.
