24-year-old woman missing after reported sunrise hike in mountains found safe, according to Chesterfield Police
UPDATE: Around 4:21 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 30, police reported that the missing woman had been found safe.
CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- A 24-year-old woman who told family members she was hiking in the mountains to watch the sunrise is missing out of Chesterfield County on Sunday, according to police.
At 9:06 a.m. on Sunday, Nov. 30, the Chesterfield County Police Department issued an alert for 24-year-old McKenzie Barker.
Police said Barker was last seen at around 2:30 a.m. on Thursday, Nov. 27. She left home after telling family members that she was going hiking in the mountains to watch the sunrise.
Officials describe Barker as a white woman with brown hair and blue eyes. She stands at about 5 feet 5 inches tall and weighs about 114 pounds, per police.
She left wearing a dark-colored jacket and pants, a blue scarf, red shoes and a light blue backpack.
Barker drives a blue 2016 Mazda CX-3 with a Virginia license plate TMC-3028.
Police do not have an indication of which trail she was hiking and have contacted police agencies in the region and the Shenandoah National Park Police that covers Skyline Drive and the Blueridge Parkway.
Those agencies have searched for Barker's vehicle at the trailheads in their respective jurisdictions and were unable to locate it, as of the time of reporting, according to police.
A spokesperson said the family could not provide any specifics about possible locations Barker may have gone.
"We believe she was hiking alone," police told 8News.

Around 4:21 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 30, police reported that Baker had been found safe and is in good health.
