40-year-old man arrested following miles-long pursuit in Caroline County
CAROLINE COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- A 40-year-old man is facing drug charges after officials said he led a Caroline County Sheriff's Office sergeant on a chase in late February.
At 8:45 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 27, a sergeant with the Caroline County Sheriff's Office saw a vehicle swerving across the center line of Route 207 multiple times near Route 1 while patrolling.
The sergeant reportedly attempted to pull over the driver as the vehicle turned onto Jericho Road. Though the sergeant's vehicle's emergency lights and sirens were on, officials said the driver did not stop, and led the sergeant on a chase that lasted about 6.5 miles.
The sheriff's office said the driver eventually stopped at a home on Jericho Road. Officials identified the driver as 40-year-old Adam Ryan Hall of the Ruther Glen area of Caroline County.
Hall was taken into custody "without further incident," according to the sheriff's office. The sergeant then conducted a search, during which multiple baggies containing substances "consistent with heroin and fentanyl" were reportedly found alongside drug paraphernalia.
Hall was reportedly charged with one count of possession of fentanyl, one count of possession of heroin, eluding law enforcement and failure to drive right of the center of the highway.
Officials said Hall was taken to Pamunkey Regional Jail and is being held pending further legal proceedings.
