50-year-old Chesterfield man charged with possessing child sexual abuse material

CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- A 50-year-old Chesterfield man has been charged with possessing child sexual abuse material (CSAM) after police said he planned to travel to the town of Bedford to attempt to have sex with someone he believed was a child.

During the evening on Sunday, Jan. 11, the Bedford Police Department reportedly obtained information that 50-year-old Thomas McKinley of Chesterfield County had planned to travel from Chesterfield to the town of Bedford in Bedford County to attempt to "engage in sexual acts" with a person police said he believed was an 11-year-old.

Bedford police officers reportedly found McKinley and arrested him on Jan. 12, and charged him with possessing CSAM. Police said additional charges are pending.
