51-year-old man charged with murder after deadly shooting in Petersburg

PETERSBURG, Va. (WRIC) -- A 51-year-old man was charged with first-degree murder after a deadly shooting in Petersburg in mid-December 2025.

In a social post shared on Wednesday, Jan. 14, the Petersburg Bureau of Police said that 51-year-old Jeffrey Rhodes-Barner was arrested in connection with the homicide that occurred on Monday, Dec. 15, in the 2100 block of Jamestown Drive in Petersburg.

According to police, Rhodes-Barner was charged with first-degree murder, use of a firearm during the commission of a felony and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

The Petersburg Bureau of Police, in collaboration with the U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force and Prince George County Police Department, has arrested Rhodes-Barner in a deadly shooting.
