62-year-old woman killed by driver while crossing Henrico roadway

HENRICO COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- A 62-year-old woman was killed after police say she was hit by a driver while crossing a Henrico County roadway on Tuesday.

At about 5:55 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 30, officers with the Henrico County Police Division were called to the intersection of Glenside Drive and Inglewood Street for a report of a crash involving a pedestrian.

When officers arrived, they found 62-year-old Barbara Ann Jones, of Henrico, with obvious signs of trauma.

Jones was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police said an initial investigation shows Jones and a man were crossing the northbound lanes of Glenside Drive when a Hyundai Santa Fe attempted to brake for them.

The driver, who remained on scene, swerved to avoid them and hit Jones, per Henrico Police.
