75+ RPS students receive essentials, dinner at 8th Annual Unwrapping Holiday Wishes event
RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) -- More than 75 Richmond Public Schools (RPS) students were able to shop for new clothing, shoes, toys and winter essentials for free at the 8th Annual Unwrapping Holiday Wishes event on Thursday.
The 8th Annual Unwrapping Holiday Wishes event was held in the evening on Thursday, Dec. 11, presented by UnitedHealthcare and hosted by Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) Alumni.
More than 75 RPS students were treated to a fully paid shopping spree at Target, where they picked out new clothing, shoes, toys and winter essentials, followed by a dinner at McDonald's.
In addition, students also chose gifts to be donated to the Children's Hospital of Richmond at VCU to continue to spread kindness and holiday cheer.
The event kicked off with an introduction by founder Timmy Nguyen, Richmond City Councilwoman Cynthia Newbille and RPS Superintendent Jason Kamras.
