Ashland to close key roads to parking as possible snowstorm approaches
HANOVER COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- Several roads in the Ashland area of Hanover County will be closed to parking starting Saturday in preparation for a possible weekend snowstorm.
A snowstorm will likely hit the Central Virginia region on Saturday, Jan. 24, and will last into Sunday, Jan. 25. While our StormTracker8 team is still working out the details on exactly how much snow is expected, the region is beginning to brace for potential wintry weather.
To ensure that local roadways can be cleared of snow, the town of Ashland has issued an emergency snow declaration, which will go into effect at 8 a.m. on Saturday.
Starting at that time, drivers are not to park or impede traffic flow on the following key roadways until the declaration is lifted:

- Thompson Street, from town limits to the railroad tracks
- Hanover Avenue, from town limits to Thompson Street
- S. Center Street, from Lee Street to Ashcake Road
- Henry Street, from Archie Cannon Drive to England Street
- Hill Carter Parkway, from Kitty Hamilton to England Street
- Kitty Hamilton Lane, from Hill Carter Parkway to N. Carter Road
- N. Carter Road, from Kitty Hamilton Lane to England Street
- S. Carter Road, from England Street to Devereux Drive
If you do choose to park or impede traffic flow in these areas during this time, your vehicle may be towed.

"Please do your part in helping us keep the roadways safe and move your vehicle prior to 8 a.m. [on Saturday]," the Ashland Police Department said.
