Beaverdam Elementary School to be replaced with new building
HANOVER, Va. (WRIC) — Hanover County Public School leaders and county leaders are preparing to celebrate the groundbreaking ceremony for the new Beaverdam Elementary School.
The groundbreaking ceremony officially kicks off Monday March 24, right next to the current Beaverdam Elementary School on Beaverdam School Road.
School leaders have been eyeing this replacement project since 2018, when a study revealed that Beaverdam Elementary School was in need of renovations. However, by the end of 2023, the school board agreed that the school needed to be replaced rather than renovated.
In February of 2024, the replacement project was added to the school district's capital improvement plan and school leaders began hosting informational meetings to go over ideas and questions.
By October of 2024, school leaders and developers held a series of community meetings to get additional feedback, and final designs were presented to the school board by November.
This is the second Hanover County Public School groundbreaking this month.
Last week on March 18, school leaders broke ground with a similar ceremony on the new Battlefield Park Elementary school.
The Beaverdam Elementary School groundbreaking begins at 3:30 p.m. Anyone wishing to attend is asked not to arrive until 3 o clock.
