Chesterfield to host community meeting on Route 10 Area Plan

CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- The Chesterfield County Planning Department is hosting a meeting next Monday to discuss the Northern Route 10 Corridor Special Area Plan (SAP). According to a release from the department, on Monday, Nov. 4 from 4 to 7 p.m. in the multipurpose room of the Community Development Building -- located at 9800 Government Center Parkway -- community members can come to learn about and give input on the Northern Route 10 Corridor SAP. The goal of this project, which spans around 3.5 miles between Route 288 and Rock Spring Drive/Lakemere Drive, is to "guide future growth and development within the plan boundary" according to the department. (Courtesy of Chesterfield County) Around 860 acres of land area will be contained within the project, and the planning officials aim to diversify the economy and provide opportunities for residents through the identification of land uses that are not currently found in the corridor. Once the SAP is approved, the future development ideas that will be considered include bike/pedestrian infrastructure recommendations, sit and building design recommendations and increased connectivity between the corridor and surrounding neighborhoods. There is a Northern Route 10 Corridor Plan Survey that residents can complete to not only provide comments and feedback but also potentially help guide the development of recommendations for the plan. The deadline to submit survey responses is 5 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 2 of this year, and the survey can be found at this link. To learn more about the project, visit the planning website at this link.
