LOUISA COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- Construction has recently begun on a new Career and Technical Education (CTE) center in Louisa County.

The center will be located within the Louisa County High School and Middle School complex and will include courses like welding, firefighting, nursing and cosmetology, according to the county.

With 13 classrooms and lab spaces as well as a covered service yard, the 56,000-square-foot facility will offer courses to high school students during the day and adults in the evenings.

Additionally, the center will be designed to adapt alongside the needs of students, as well as the community. New planned programs include marine service tech, HVAC and plumbing, electrical and energy, computer-aided design (CAD) and computer numerical control (CNC).

Designed by RRMM Architects, the center was made possible by insight from Louisa County Public Schools administrators and teachers, as well as business partners and county leaders.
