Domestic incident turns into police chase, deadly barricade situation in Chesterfield

CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- What started as a domestic incident ended in a police chase and a deadly barricade situation in Chesterfield County on Thursday.

At about 3:30 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 9, officers with the Chesterfield County Police Department responded to a call about a domestic incident involving a weapon.

They found the involved vehicle in the 13700 block of Hull Street and attempted to stop it. However, the male driver reportedly fled from officers, prompting a police chase.

The chase ended in the 10500 block of Sunne Court, where the driver entered a home and barricaded himself inside. According to police, officers secured the area to protect nearby residents and began communicating with him.

This lasted for some time before the subject exited the home and shot himself, police said. First responders with Chesterfield County Fire and EMS gave him medical aid before he was taken to a local hospital, where he later died.

Police said no officers fired their weapons during this encounter.
