Early-morning fight escalates into stabbing in Hopewell

HOPEWELL, Va. (WRIC) -- A Hopewell man is facing a felony charge after an early-morning altercation escalated into a stabbing.

At about 4 a.m. on Thursday, March 19, Hopewell Telecommunications received a call about a stabbing in the 4100 block of Old Iron Court.

The victim, a 33-year-old man, was taken to an area hospital for treatment of his injuries, which were not life-threatening.

Investigators with the Hopewell Police Department determined that the stabbing took place during an altercation.

Officers arrested 30-year-old Makyle Sylvester White of Hopewell and charged him with felony malicious wounding.
