RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) -- Sports Backers has announced a series of special activities and programming that will lead up to the Richmond Marathon. The 47th annual Allianz Partners Richmond Marathon will take place on Saturday, Nov. 16, and Sports Backers, the event's organizer, has announced a series of activities and programming to lead up to race weekend. Founding leaders Dimity McDowell and Sarah Wassner Flynn will record an episode of their podcast, "Many Happy Miles," at 2:30 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 15, at the Health & Fitness Expo. According to the spokesperson, their guests will be two coaches of the Better Together Program traveling to Richmond for race weekend. Attendees can meet the brand's ambassadors at the Health & Fitness Expo to shop their exclusive line of merchandise, including limited-edition Richmond gear. Additionally, the Better Together Program will meet for a shakeout run downtown on Friday, Nov. 15, in the morning. Marathon Training Academy -- Friday, Nov. 15 at 11 a.m. Cofounder of Marathon Training Academy Trevor Spencer will host a 3-mile shakeout run highlighting the finish area for the Allianz Partners Richmond Marathon and the T. Tyler Potterfield Memorial Bridge at 11 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 15. Marathon Training Academy will also host a post-race meet-up, offering a chance for runners to connect and celebrate their accomplishments together. 'I'll Have Another' with Lindsey Hein According to the spokesperson, Lindsey Hein is a running coach and speaker who has completed 17 marathons and a half Ironman. She also has a podcast titled "I'll Have Another," which features conversations with Olympians and everyday runners. Hein will lead a panel at the Health & Fitness Expo called "What Running Did For Me," featuring Richmond runners Kleigh Koupal, Josh Leidy, Anthony Clary and Sue Henneberry. wear blue: run to remember -- Saturday, Nov. 16 at 6:30 a.m. Sports Backers is partnering with wear blue: run to remember, an organization dedicated to honoring the service and sacrifice of American military members, in honor of Veteran's Day, which falls just a week before the marathon. People can join the organization at 6:30 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 16, for a "Circle of Remembrance" on Broad Street, where participants will honor fallen service members by speaking their names and carrying their memories with each step taken during the marathon. CarMax Halfway Hype Zone This year, CarMax will support runners with the CarMax Halfway Hype Zone at Bryan Park, a high-energy activation zone that will amp up half marathoners as they reach the halfway point of their race. According to the spokesperson, the zone will feature three live musical acts, along with several cheer squads, to keep the energy high and runners motivated. There will also be an amenity stop where runners can recharge with refreshments.
