Every Virginia county voted the same as 2020 — except for one

(NEXSTAR) - Even though Vice President Kamala Harris lost the 2024 election, she secured a win against former President Donald Trump in Virginia. Nonetheless, the race was closer than it was in 2020. Harris ended up with 51.8% of Virginia’s vote as of Saturday Nov. 9, down almost 3% from the 2020 election. With that, Trump finished with more votes than he did in both 2020 — winning 46.6% of the votes in Virginia. According to election maps provided by AP, all of Virginia voted the same as in 2020 — all except for one county which flipped to Trump this election. That county is Prince Edward County located southwest of Richmond. The county voted 52.1% for Biden back in 2020, while this year Trump won with 50.5% of the vote. Currently, as of Nov. 9, only 99% of the votes have been counted in Virginia. This means there's still a chance the county could potentially sway back towards blue in the coming days. As for the country as a whole, the bulk vote was in Trump’s favor with the former president receiving 50.6% of the popular vote. He was elected the 47th president of the U.S. on Wednesday.
