Field Day of the Past may move to a new present location

DINWIDDIE COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- Amelia County's Field Day of the Past could see a new location as Dinwiddie County acknowledges the recent public announcement to relocate the event from Amelia County to Dinwiddie.

No formal announcements or approvals have been announced yet, however Dinwiddie County officials have been in communication with Field Day of the Past representatives, and are committed to working with them through the proper permit and regulatory processes.

Field Day of the Past plans to host a one-time event this September and later apply for a Conditional Use Permit (CUP) which would establish a permanent location for the event.

The application process would include public hearings, a review and an opportunity for Dinwiddie citizens to give their input to the Dinwiddie County Planning Commission and Board of Supervisors.

“Our priority is to ensure that any large-scale event or land use change aligns with County ordinances, maintains public safety and respects the interests of all Dinwiddie residents--both those who support the event and those who may have concerns,” said W. Kevin Massengill County Administrator.

Dinwiddie County is encouraging all of their residents to take part in the upcoming discussion and to stay informed about the future of Field Day of the Past.

“We look forward to working with the event organizers to ensure they follow the proper procedures, allowing for transparency, community engagement and a fair review process,” Massengill said.

Additional details on future opportunities for input and public hearings will be available as the process continues.
