Firefighter hurt after Chesterfield basement fire spreads, pouring smoke

CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- A Chesterfield County firefighter was hurt in a basement fire that spread throughout a local home, creating heavy smoke.

Just after 1 p.m. on Tuesday, May 13, crews with Chesterfield County Fire and EMS were called to a home in the 13300 block of Oak Lane in the Midlothian area for report of a house fire.

When they arrived, firefighters found that a basement fire had spread into the home's first floor and attic.

Pictures from the scene show thick smoke pouring from the home.

No residents or civilians were hurt as a result of the fire. However, one firefighter was injured and required treatment at the scene.

Fire officials did not say whether or not the residents of the home were displaced by the fire's damage.
