On Tuesday, April 15, county leaders voted to adopt a total budget of $148.5 million for 2025-26 -- roughly $12.5 million more than 2024-25. Despite the increase, Goochland residents can expect their tax rate to remain the same at $0.53 per $100 of assessed value.

- Employee Pay: A 3.5% pay raise, and a one-time 1.5% bonus for all couny employees
This marks the eighth year of developing a 25-year Capital Improvement Program (CIP), which provides a plan to manage major infrastructure projects, "to meet the capital needs of the County and Schools," the county said in a press release.
The county plans to spend $6 million in the next fiscal year on investments, such as emergency technology, fire rescue, information technology and county and school facilities. Over the next five years -- from fiscal years 2026 to 2030 -- the total CIP investment will be $85.7 million.
