GRTC to celebrate expanded Route One, adding 36 news stops
RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) -- The Greater Richmond Transit Company (GRTC) will celebrate the new and expanded Route One Monday afternoon. This is part of the City of Richmond’s effort to expand the North-South Pulse bus line. The ribbon cutting will begin at 3 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 21, at the Henrico Sports and Events Complex, located at 1 All-Star Boulevard in the Glen Allen area. The event is open to the public. The city said this extension will help determine future construction of GRTC's North-South Pulse Project. The North-South Pulse Project will connect Richmond's Northside and Southside, with the goal of making it easier and safer for everyone to get around with bus service. With Route One being expanded, riders can expect 36 new stops over 15.5 miles. The extended route will connect downtown Richmond to the Virginia Center Commons via Chamberlayne Avenue and Brook Road. The city said Route One is already the most popular fixed bus route and will add 20,000 monthly users with this expansion.
