Help clean up Louisa during 3rd-annual ‘Big Clean’ event
LOUISA COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- Help make Louisa County a little cleaner by attending a community trash pickup event at the end of May.
On Saturday, May 31 and Sunday, June 1, the nonprofit Louisa Clean is hosting its third-annual "Big Clean Event" in partnership with local government.
Residents can participate by coming out on those two days and cleaning along the roadways near their homes and businesses.
Additionally, those who have adopted sections of Louisa roadways through the Virginia Department of Transportation's (VDOT) "Adopt-A-Highway" program are asked to clean their respective sections.
Louisa Clean said it is also looking for volunteers to help clean up a few particular areas of concern, including Shannon Hill Road, part of Route 208 and Byrd Mill Road.
If you're interested in volunteering to help clean up these specific areas, you're asked to email LouisaClean2022@gmail.com. Grabbers and safety vests will be provided.
Volunteers are encouraged to post about their clean-up efforts in the Louisa Clean Facebook group.
"These events are held to bring awareness to the people of Louisa and surrounding counties that the culture needs to change so that we no longer view litter on our roadways as acceptable," the nonprofit said.
