Henrico, Chesterfield Lottery tickets win $50,000 as Powerball drawing increases to about $1 billion

RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) -- Three Virginia Lottery tickets won $50,000 as the Powerball drawing has increased to about $1 billion, with two tickets purchased in the Greater Richmond Region.

Of the 128,405 Lottery tickets reportedly sold in Virginia on Saturday, Aug. 30, three tickets each won $50,000.

Since no ticket in the U.S. matched all six numbers, the jackpot for the Monday, Sept. 1, drawing has increased to about $1.1 billion.

According to the Virginia Lottery, any tickets bought after the 10 p.m. deadline on Saturday will be used for the next drawing on Monday, Sept. 1.

The three tickets each matched four of the five winning numbers and the Powerball number -- which includes Henrico and Chesterfield:

  • Publix, 4591 S. Laburnum Avenue in Henrico
  • Kroger, 2801 Hicks Road in North Chesterfield
  • 7-Eleven, 3500 Deep Creek Boulevard in Portsmouth

All profits from every Powerball ticket bought in Virginia, by law, goes to K-12 public education in Virginia.
