Henrico’s ‘Red, White and Lights’ Fourth of July event returns to the area

HENRICO COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- Henrico County has announced the return of its annual "Red, White and Lights" Fourth of July community celebration.

The event will be hosted at Meadow Farm Museum at Crump Park with gates open from 4 to 8:30 p.m. on Friday, July 4. The event is hosted by the Division of Recreation and Parks, and is free for families and friends to attend.

Featured performances will rake place by the Richmond Symphony as they perform American-themed selections alongside guest conductor Naima Burrs.

The event will also feature a laser-light show, which according to the press release, can only be seen and heard from inside the venue.

Live entertainment will begin inside the venue at 4:15 p.m. with a performance by children's musical group, Big Bang Boom. At 6 p.m., pop singer Deau Eyes will take to the stage, followed by a historical portrayal performance of John Adams and the singing of "The Star Spangled Banner" as well as "Lift Every Voice and Sing" by Desiree Roots.

The Richmond Symphony is set to perform at 8:15 p.m. with the laser light show expected to start at around 9:30 p.m.

The laser light show will also be tailored to those who may be sensitive to loud noises and will not include fireworks.

Guests are encouraged to arrive early to enjoy the "Fun Zone" and refreshments including complimentary watermelon. It is also encouraged to bring blankets and chairs as well.

The Fourth of July celebration will also offer an interactive U.S. Air Force exhibit with bounce houses, inflatables, face paint, balloon animals and an Uncle Sam on stilts. 13 food trucks will also be onsite to offer meals, snacks and desserts.

In anticipation of the 250th Independence Day celebration in 2026, Red, White & Lights will offer historical elements at the event until 8 p.m., where guests will be able to experience juggling, acrobatics, blacksmithing and over 10 historical interpreters.

At 5:30 p.m. muskets can be heard as reenactors with the British the "British Brigade" fire them in the cow pasture by a farm house "recalling how the British Empire sought to assert its might in 1775 as the cry for independence grew among the Colonies," according to the release. The farm house will be open for tours until 6:30 p.m.
