Honor the life and legacy of Princess Diana before the 28th anniversary of her death with Richmond event

RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) -- An event honoring the life and legacy of Princess Diana will be held in Richmond in August, just before the 28th anniversary of her death, featuring her personal hairdresser and the founder of The Princess Diana Museum.

The event will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 30, at the Dominion Energy Center's Bob and Mooney Hall, located at 600 E. Grace St. in Richmond. Doors open at noon, according to organizers.

Attendees will hear from Richard Dalton, world-renowned hair stylist and personal hairdresser to Princess Diana for over ten years, as well as Renae Plant, founder of The Princess Diana Museum.

The pair will share insights from their new book, "It’s All About the Hair: My Decade with Diana, H.R.H. Princess of Wales," including untold stories and personal recollections of Dalton's time with Princess Diana.

Following the talk, a book signing will be held where guests can meet the authors and purchase their own copy of the book for $55, with pre-orders available to secure a copy on the day of the event.

Attendees will also be able to see the "Falcon dress," a custom cream silk crepe embroidered evening gown designed by Catherine Walker for Princess Diana's 1986 Gulf Tour. Organizers said Dalton was the only person to see Princess Diana wearing the gown, and pages will be shared from the book regarding that moment.

Refreshments will be provided. For more information and to grab your tickets, visit the Dominion Energy Center's website.
