How can Henrico County residents beat the heat?

HENRICO COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- Due to the extreme weather passing through the region, many residents are trying to find ways to beat the heat. Henrico County Government is offering tips on how to do just that.

With rising temperatures, Henrico County is encouraging its residents to visit county facilities to get relief from the heat by resting in air conditioning, cooling off in spray parks, filling up water bottles from public library fountains, recreation centers or splash parks.

Here are ways to practice sun safety when visiting parks, libraries and recreation centers:

  • drink plenty of water
  • limit time outside during peak hours of the day (3 p.m. to 6 p.m.)
  • Wear loose breathable clothing
  • Use sunblock, hats, and UPF clothing

According to the Facebook post by Henrico County Government, you can stay up to date on facility operations hours and events by following Henrico County Recreation and Parks and Henrico County Public Library.
