ICE agents return to Chesterfield County Courthouse to ‘interview’ people slated for court hearings

CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents were present at the Chesterfield County Courthouse on Tuesday to reportedly interview some people who were slated for court hearings.

Two ICE agents were at the Chesterfield County Courthouse on Tuesday, July 15, to "interview some individuals coming to court," according to the Chesterfield County Sheriff's Office. Officials did not state the number or names of people sought by ICE.

The incident was first reported by the Richmond-Times-Dispatch.

This comes after 15 people were detained by ICE at the courthouse over the course of four days, 10 of whom were appearing for traffic-related offenses.

ICE previously told 8News all were detained by ICE for “immigration violations.”
